Addressing Food Insecurity in Our Community
Food insecurity affects thousands of families across San Mateo County. Rising housing costs, high living expenses, and other financial pressures leave many households struggling to meet basic needs, including access to nutritious food.
To help address this challenge in our own community, PFSI Youth currently runs two weekly food donation programs:
Twice-Weekly Sandwich Program: Every Monday and Thursday, we prepare and donate fresh PB&J sandwiches and fruit to Samaritan House in San Mateo, supporting individuals and families through its community food programs.
Weekly Grocery Bag Program: Every Tuesday, we prepare and donate grocery bags containing rice, beans, and fresh vegetables to St. Francis Center in Redwood City, helping families access essential food supplies.
Both programs are built on a simple belief: small, consistent acts of care can make a meaningful difference. Everyone deserves a dignified life.
While local food banks and community organizations provide essential services, our goal is to contribute to their efforts through reliable, hands-on food donations. With continued community support, we hope to expand both programs and reach more families in need.
